A Strategic Approach for a Coordinated and Collaborative Effort

To most effectively accomplish these goals, we are utilizing a three-pronged approach that includes:

  • A direct services project that provides evidenced-based best practice services to identified families.
  • A community collaborative that identifies and coordinates existing services, identifies gaps in services, and makes recommendations for the development of programs to address unmet needs. In addition, the collaborative is designed to develop an advocacy agenda to create awareness of needs, promote public policy changes, and increase funding for needed services targeted at families with young children, as well as research and educate service providers on national best practices.
  • A Thriving at Three Clinical Consortium that provides referrals, case consultation, and a network of resources.

Thriving at Three aims to:

  • Increase access to prenatal care
  • Reduce the incidence of at-risk births
  • Reduce the Infant mortality rate
  • Reduce the negative impact on new born children whose parents suffer from mental health or substance abuse problems
  • Increase parental treatment of mental illness and substance abuse
  • Ensure early detection and treatment in homes where children may be at-risk for emotional and social problems
  • Reduce child abuse and stop a second occurrence of child abuse
  • Create safe, nurturing environments that allow children in Greater Greensboro to thrive at age 3 and be ready for school at age 5
  • Increase community awareness of current research and best practices for children 0 to 3, the state of children in Greater Greensboro, and current services and service providers
  • Strengthen Greater Greensboro’s system of care based on a continuum of high-quality services and excellent coordination of public and private agencies working with children
  • Increase awareness of children and family needs in the multiple communities:  Healthcare, General, Politicians, Funders, Agencies, Parents, Churches, Schools, Corporate and Business leaders
